April Social Media Digest

We hope you had a nice Easter Holiday. We’re approaching summer though there is still time for work. Our VAfromEurope monthly digest is back with a bunch of hot Social Media News.

Meta boosts the use of Reels

Meta simplifies the way the non-Meta application can share their work into Facebook Reels. So now third-party applications can add the ‘Share to Facebook Reels’ button to provide new users’ experience. The new Reels button allows sharing short video content to Facebook and customizing it with the Reels tools without having to download and upload a video manually. As of now VivaVideo, Smule, and Vita are integrated with Facebook Reels. Since Reels is the fastest growing trend, we will probably get more and more fascinating integrations.

Instagram In-Stream Video Ad is no longer available

Instagram removed this placement from its advertising options, but Reels placement is still available. Instagram is trying to drift away from this disruptive ad option in favor of a scrollable stream. A new Instagram Feed mode is also being tested. It will integrate the feed posts, videos, Stories, and Reels at the same time. In-stream placement is a bit outdated because the app retired IGTV last year. The platform is striving to consolidate its elements and focus on Reels.

Linkedin provides new options

The most useful update of all is the option of adding a link below your user name and description. This custom link is aimed at driving more attention and referral traffic. LinkedIn also updated its analytics option for group posts. This means users will be able to see engagements for group shares from their posts. You’ll just have to tap ‘view analytics’ and here it is. LinkedIn mobile app got a new trimming option to simplify and customize a video editing process. In addition to this, users can now share their newsletter links to their profiles thus boosting sign-ups.

Twitter makes changes on how removed tweets look and then backtracks changes

At the beginning of last month, Twitter changed the way deleted tweets appeared on third-party websites after being removed. Sometime before the deleted tweets had still shown the text without tweet formatting if embedded there. This change actually left a blank place instead. But after some consideration and getting feedback from the users, Twitter backtracked this update, and users are still able to see the text even if the tweet has been removed.

TikTok adds an awesome update for Live Streams

In April TikTok made the dream of millions come true. The platform updated TikTok Live with a new option – a ‘Background Player’. This new feature allows you to listen to an audio stream even if you leave the application. The audio can be reproduced in the floating window or be rolling just like that. Listening to an audio Live stream without having to watch the video could provide a new experience for TikTok users. By the way, with this new feature TikTok creators can shift their focus to audio to broaden their audience.
