October 2021 Social Media Digest: Essential Trends and Takeaways
October’s social media updates include Facebook audience measurement changes, Instagram desktop posting and Live scheduling, LinkedIn freelancer tools, expanded Twitter Spaces, Clubhouse Clips, and new YouTube caption features, giving marketers and creators more opportunities to engage audiences effectively.
Winter is approaching, and we look forward to Halloween preparations and Christmas shopping.
Additionally, once we reach that time, we’ve prepared hot news from the Social Media World.
Facebook starts counting unconnected accounts separately
The update marks a major shift for marketers using Social Media. Additionally, Facebook will treat unconnected accounts in the Accounts Center as separate entities for planning and measurement, affecting foretasted reach. Furthermore, it also affects how budgets are allocated across Facebook and Instagram campaigns.
Previously, Facebook counted people with multiple accounts as one person when the same email or device accessed both platforms. The update may widen the apparent reach of Facebook Ads and change planning estimates. In addition, Potential Reach now shows ranges rather than exact numbers. Facebook has recently adjusted to reduce fake and duplicate accounts, which may shape how these updates are viewed and applied.

For now, only verified accounts and public figures are restricted from creating Audio Rooms; all users can tune in.
