AI encroachment is unstoppable. The technology is taking over, gaining new features and acquiring new skills. More and more functions are performed by AI. Therefore, there is no surprise that social media is no exception.

Meta if following the AI trend

Meta is launching new AI-based advertising features for Messenger to help brands engage with users who prefer private messaging. The first feature is an AI-driven Q&A tool that automates responses to common questions businesses receive on Messenger, powered by Meta’s Llama 3 AI system. This tool aims to streamline customer interactions and save time, though it may still have limitations with complex queries.

Additionally, Meta is launching a messaging promotion option that allows marketers to create and send paid marketing messages on Messenger via Ads Manager to users who have opted in. This feature includes AI-driven targeting, recommending recipients based on desired outcomes, similar to a recent update on WhatsApp.

LinkedIn adds AI Tools

LinkedIn is introducing new ad placements and integrating more AI capabilities into its advertising tools.

New Video Sponsorship Program: named “The Wire”, this program allows brands to run in-stream video ads alongside content from trusted publishers like Bloomberg, Forbes, and Reuters. This aims to increase credibility and reach, leveraging the trend of rising video consumption, with U.S. viewers spending more time on digital video compared to traditional TV.

AI-Enhanced Ad Tools: LinkedIn’s “Accelerate” ad option now includes Microsoft Designer, enabling the use of generative AI for creating campaign visuals. Therefore, this AI tool provides multiple design options based on user input, further customizable with logos and imagery. Additionally, Accelerate will also feature enhanced AI recommendations for ad improvement and allow targeting exclusions using company and third-party lists.

WhatsApp is looking to enhance video chatting

WhatsApp has introduced several updates to enhance video calls, including the ability to display more participants on screen in group chats, improving interaction. The new screen-sharing feature with audio allows users to watch videos, presentations, or movies together. Additionally, the “Speaker Spotlight” highlights the current speaker, useful for larger groups of up to 32 participants. WhatsApp has also launched the MLow codec to improve call reliability, noise and echo cancellation on mobile devices, and higher resolution video calls for those with fast connections. These updates aim to improve the overall video call experience, making WhatsApp a more viable platform for community engagement, especially as it continues to grow in Western markets.

YouTube provides more AI tools for creators

YouTube has updated its “Inspiration” tab in YouTube Studio to help content creators with AI-driven video ideas. This revamped tab, formerly known as “Research,” now shows search trends and successful “Breakout” videos from similar channels. Creators can enter topics to receive AI-generated suggestions and video outlines tailored to their audience. This new feature, building on the previously tested Ideas Generator, aims to inspire more content creation. It’s available globally, except in the EU, UK, Switzerland, and India, with plans for wider access soon.
