July Social Media Digest 2025

Summary

Google, LinkedIn, and Instagram rolled out AI and engagement tools to improve shopping, communication, and content relevance across platforms.

You might still be dreaming about the summer holiday or just dread getting back to work. However, no matter what, the world of social media is evolving, leaving no room for lagging behind. So, there is a bunch of ‘hot’ news, worth reading through.

Google Ads makes shopping easier

Google is launching new AI-powered shopping tools to enhance online browsing. These include advanced virtual try-on, smarter price tracking, and AI-based style search. U.S. shoppers can now upload a full-body photo to see how clothes might look on them using the new virtual try-on tool. Just tap a product in Search or Images, hit the “try it on” icon, and see instant previews. You can scroll through, save favorites, and share them with friends.

Additionally, Google now lets users set price alerts tailored to their preferred size, color, and budget, making it easier to track the best deals. The Shopping Graph scans the web and sends alerts when the right deal appears. Additionally, AI search now supports natural language queries, making it easier to discover matching styles from simple descriptions. These features aim to make shopping more personal, timely, and interactive—just in time for the holiday season.

Google AI will save you from an unwanted routine

That’s interesting! Google is expanding its AI search tools with “agentic capabilities” and access to the advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro model. Now, Google’s AI can call whatever businesses you want instead of you. For example, searching “junk removal services near me” lets AI check prices and availability, using calls and web data to summarize the results. This helps you avoid making calls yourself, though businesses might need time to adjust to AI voice queries.

Subscribers can also now use Gemini 2.5 Pro in AI Mode—ideal for complex tasks like reasoning, coding, and math. While the standard model handles everyday queries, 2.5 Pro offers more advanced support. These features highlight Google’s quiet but strategic push to integrate AI into its search ecosystem. The updates are rolling out to U.S. users, with more features available for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.

LinkedIn Shifts Focus from Hashtags to Contextual AI

LinkedIn has rolled back an algorithm update that caused too many old posts to appear in users’ feeds, aiming to restore fresher content. The platform also clarified that hashtags are now less important, as improved AI can determine post relevance through context and keywords. While hashtags may still help with trending topics, hashtag feeds are being removed due to low use.

LinkedIn is also testing new AI tools like resume and interview coaching, but its AI post-writing feature hasn’t caught on—users prefer authenticity and often reject robotic-sounding content.

Instagram promotes scheduling

Fron now on, Instagram is expanding access to its DM translation and scheduling features. With DM translation now supporting 99 languages, brands can hold messages, tap “Translate,” and view the translated text beneath the original—boosting global communication. Businesses can also set a preferred language for automatic translation.

Scheduled DMs allow users to press and hold ‘Send’ to set an exact delivery time, making it easier to reach audiences in different time zones. Though these tools aren’t brand new, Instagram’s push highlights their value in expanding reach and optimizing engagement.
