We are back with our monthly digest. Some updates are already here, and some of them are going to be rolled out, but we are giving you a heads-up so you can get ready for them.

WhatsApp adds new ways to engage with customers

Meta expands WhatsApp Business marketing tools with new features. The paid broadcast messages enable businesses to send promotional offers. These messages target customers who previously interacted with their brand. The update helps companies improve customer engagement, increase marketing reach, and deliver more targeted campaigns through WhatsApp.

To enhance the user experience, recipients can mark promotional messages as ‘Not interested’. They can decline individual offers or opt out of marketing communications. Meta also plans to monitor customer feedback and limit daily promotional messages. This helps businesses maintain message quality while reducing inbox overload.

These new WhatsApp Business features aim to create a better balance between business communication, customer privacy, and personalized marketing, giving users greater control over the content they receive while helping brands build stronger customer relationships.

Bye-bye, Skype!

Microsoft has announced the retirement of Skype, with services for both free and paid users ending in May 2025. This change does not affect Skype for Business; Skype for Business will continue to operate. To ensure a smooth transition, Microsoft recommends moving to Microsoft Teams Free, which includes many familiar Skype features while offering enhanced collaboration, communication, and productivity tools.

Users can easily migrate by signing in to Microsoft Teams Free with their existing Skype credentials. Their contacts, chat history, and account information will transfer automatically, making the switch seamless. The Skype application will provide step-by-step guidance throughout the migration process.

For users who prefer not to transition to Teams, Microsoft offers the option to export Skype data, including chats and contacts, before the platform is discontinued. Existing paying customers will still be able to access the Skype Dial Pad through the web or Microsoft Teams Free. However, Microsoft will stop offering new purchases of Skype Credit, calling plans, and subscription services.

The move reflects Microsoft’s broader focus on Teams as its primary communication platform, helping users benefit from modern collaboration features while maintaining access to essential messaging and calling capabilities.

Instagram Unveils ‘Edits’ Video App

Instagram has launched Edits. It is a new video editing app for content creators. The app combines video creation, project management, and content planning in one platform. Edits is designed to streamline content production. It provides professional tools including multi-track video editing, idea organization, and project management. It also gives access to trending Instagram Reels and audio content.

The app supports recording videos up to 10 minutes long. It includes advanced editing features, such as green screen effects, cutout tools, and AI-powered video animation. Creators can export their content without watermarks, making it easier to publish videos across multiple social media platforms.

Instagram is continuously expanding the platform, with upcoming features including key frame animation, AI-generated backgrounds, enhanced collaboration tools, new text styles, visual effects, and transitions. While Edits is currently free to use, Meta has indicated that some advanced AI-powered features may become premium offerings in the future due to higher processing and infrastructure costs.

Users can sign in with their existing Instagram accounts and immediately access a comprehensive suite of content creation tools designed to improve video production, social media marketing, and creator workflow efficiency.

LinkedIn Launches Qualified Lead Optimization for More Targeted Ads

LinkedIn has launched a new lead generation optimization feature. It helps businesses attract more high-quality leads by defining an ideal prospect from sales and CRM data. The tool works with Lead Generation campaigns and shares leads via API, CRM integrations, or offline data. Available for campaigns using the Lead Generation objective, the tool allows advertisers to share qualified lead information with LinkedIn through the Conversions API, CRM integrations, or offline data sources.

By analyzing this first-party data, LinkedIn’s algorithm can identify and target users who closely match a company’s most valuable customers, improving B2B marketing performance and lead quality. As businesses continue to provide lead conversion data, the platform refines audience targeting and campaign optimization, helping marketers reach prospects with a higher likelihood of converting into customers.

Although the feature may increase the average cost per lead (CPL) and requires an initial learning period of approximately two weeks, early results indicate that it can reduce the cost per qualified lead by up to 39%. Advertisers can upload data manually or automate the process through CRM and third-party integrations. To maximize campaign effectiveness, lead data should be submitted within 30 days to support accurate optimization and audience modeling.

This update strengthens LinkedIn’s position as a leading B2B advertising platform, enabling businesses to improve lead quality, enhance campaign performance, and generate more meaningful sales opportunities.
