We are enjoying the last months of summer while media giants are working to improve users’ experience, help brands get more exposure, and sell as many goods as possible. These are the hottest summer Social Media updates of the last month.
Meta offers new music options
In August Meta launched Music Revenue Sharing Program. This new feature allows the creators to add music to their videos, while right holders get their interests. Videos make up half of the time on the app while music rights and its limitations have always been a pain for creators. This update expands users’ access to music, though the videos will have to meet the requirements of the monetization policy either way. A licensed music library will contain all the music available for this purpose. Music Revenue Sharing Program is available in the US and will soon be rolled out globally.

Twitter allows users to take control of their mentions
Last month all Twitter users were allowed to unmention themselves from the conversation they did not feel comfortable participating in. The new option is available on all devices. If you unmention yourself from the chat: your username will be untagged, other users won’t be able to tag you again within this conversation, and you will no longer receive notifications though your name will still be visible in a text format. The primary objective of this update is to prevent you from losing control over the context and let you distance yourself from an unwanted one.
